Morbid Series 14

Project Description

Burnt Bodies

This series of work as communicated through its title is about suffering humans endure in physical life. It reflects the state of being due to emotional, psychological and physical plight on the basis of various ideas. Problems and issue on the basis of preconceived ideas result in polarities, hierarchies and strong differences in the structures of society. I tend to create expressions which directly address these issues.

I was born in a political family and grew up in everyday situation of activism and political struggle against dictatorship regime in 80's. It positioned me at a very young age to observe closely the conflicting situations in complex political milieu of Pakistan. As an artist I try to address the problems of everyday life which we generally either tend to eschew or are reluctant to address. The work produced in this series intend to develop an understanding and reflect back on the issues of post-colonial society of South Asia as well as Global South.
